Cardona, Spain — 22 May 2026. Frontmatec-AIRA, a Fortifi Food Processing Solutions company, officially inaugurated its new manufacturing and innovation facility in Cardona, Spain, on Friday 22 May 2026. The official opening ceremony brought together suppliers, collaborators and partners to mark the milestone. On Saturday 23 May 2026, the facility hosted an open-house day for the people of Cardona, welcoming the local community to discover the company's work and its new home.
The inauguration coincided with Frontmatec-AIRA's 25th anniversary — a quarter century of robotic innovation in food processing.
A milestone for the region.
The new site at La Cort II Industrial Estate makes Frontmatec-AIRA the first organisation to build and operate a fully functional facility in this new industrial area — reinforcing the company's commitment to Cardona, to the Catalonia region and to industrial innovation in Southern Europe.
From palletizing to precision robotics.
Founded in 2001 as a robotic palletizing specialist, AIRA has evolved into a leading developer of industrial robotic and high-precision automated systems for meat production. Today, the company's 88 employee-owners design and manufacture advanced robotic solutions with integrated artificial vision and AI — systems that improve production safety, efficiency and precision while reducing the need for human involvement in physically demanding and repetitive processes.
The Cardona facility serves as the Frontmatec Group's main Southern Europe production centre, supporting continued growth in robotic solutions for the global food processing industry.
What's next.
The opening of the new Cardona facility reaffirms Frontmatec-AIRA's commitment to continued investment in manufacturing capacity, technical talent and robotic innovation — and its position as a long-term partner for food processors looking to bring consistency, precision and safety to demanding production environments.
