Frontmatec signs contract with INNARGI A/S to deliver SCADA- system to EU's largest geothermal project
Danish technology company Frontmatec has partnered with Innargi to deliver an advanced SCADA system for the EU's largest geothermal district heating project in Skejby, Aarhus.
“A strong focus on both cyber security and innovation is vital for Innargi, when we build and deliver geothermal facilities to future generations. We have found an ideal partner in Frontmatec to deliver on INNARGI’s high ambitions and innovative approach”, says Jon Willaing Jeppesen, Head of OT & IT at Innargi.
The project is an important milestone for both Frontmatec and the European geothermal sector.
“We are thrilled to join this groundbreaking project and be a part of the green transition at scale. By implementing Frontmatec's SCADA solution, the highest operational efficiency and safety is achieved”, says Henrik P. Toft, Director Water & Energy – Green Transition at Frontmatec.
The project includes Frontmatec's SCADA platform and a range of associated services, including SeSo, Hosting, and Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS), which together ensure high operational efficiency, robust data security and long-term sustainability of the plant.
Geothermal energy as a stable, renewable heat supply
As a sustainable form of energy, geothermal energy is a key component of the green transition. Geothermal heat is delivered from the depths of the earth, independent of the weather, thus acting as a stable supplement to the district heating. This project has the potential to supply up to 20% of the district heating demand in the Aarhus area, reducing dependence on biomass wood pellets. The geothermal system is expected to cover the annual heating needs of approximately 36,000 households when completed in 2029.
Technological solutions from Frontmatec to ensure operation and safety
With the SeSo service for annual updates and maintenance, the long-term sustainability of the plant is supported. Furthermore, the Hosting solutions and HaaS create flexibility and operational continuity that will be crucial to the success of the facility.
Frontmatec sees this deployment as an opportunity to evolve in both OT security and operational innovation, supporting our mission to advance the green transition and deliver safe, efficient energy solutions for the future.
