At the outlet conveyor, the operator attaches a shackle on one leg of each pig, places the hook of the shackle onto an elevator, which then lifts the single pig to the sticking conveyor. The outlet belt conveyor runs at a variable speed, running fast from the stunner to the shackling point, where the speed is then reduced allowing the operator quick and accurate shackling of each single pig.
The shackle operators can control the automatic function by pressing start/stop/reverse. The length of the outlet conveyor band can vary according to capacity and consists of the following main components:
- Motor/driving drum
- Idle drum
- Endless black conveyor band
- Frame/lateral guides
- Supporting/return rollers
- Legs
- Control buttons
The ergonomically correct shackling design enables the operator to catch the shackle with a minimum of effort and strain to the body. This ensures fast and accurate shackling of pigs and sows immediately after stunning. The shackling devices are made from hot galvanized and stainless steel, as well as plastic materials, and are pneumatically operated.
The equipment conforms to the latest HACCP regulations and the strictest rules regarding health and safety. The shackling elevator is a standard Duoplan elevator which lifts the shackled pigs unto the main transport conveyor/bleeding conveyor for sticking.
