The Frontmatec Autoline back finner can process carcasses with lengths varying by 0.5 m (measured from gambrel to snout). Before processing, an infrared light curtain measures the length of the carcass and the pubic bone.
The measured length of each carcass forms the basis of the process, as the machine automatically processes each carcass by the individual length.
As the machine synchronizes with the main conveyor, the slide with the circular knife and fixture travels to its starting position.
The circular knife then cuts through rind, fat and, if required, belly and neck. Following insertion of two parallel cutting knives between and on each side of vertebra one and vertebra two to a depth corresponding to the bottom of the spinous, the machine performs the operation in a downward movement. The knives follow the spine and bone and separates the meat.
